Job Description
South Island School is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to provide support to staff in delivering high-quality science education, particularly in the practical aspects of laboratory work for students.
Main Accountabilities
- Assist teachers during practical lessons to meet students’ learning needs.
- Support teachers in planning and developing new experiments.
- Prepare, test, and set up experiments for practical lessons.
- Construct, maintain, and repair laboratory equipment.
- Conduct stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ensure proper storage of equipment and safe disposal of waste.
- Organize weekly experiment orders and carry out trial runs.
- Prepare equipment and chemicals daily to ensure a good environment for learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Line Managers.
Requirements
- Certificate in Laboratory Technology
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving ability
- Capability to work independently in a science laboratory setting
- Knowledge of health and safety practices
- Excellent organizational skills
- Self-motivated and proactive attitude
- Effective team player

- Reports to Laboratory Technician I and Head of Chemistry
