Student Affairs Office

Major Duties:
Reporting directly to the Vice President (Operation and Enterprise), the Head of Student Affairs Office will lead a team of professional staff to fulfil the following responsibilities:
- Formulate, develop and implement strategies and policies relating to student affairs matters;
- Oversee the daily operation, development and management of the Student Affairs Office;
- Work closely with academic departments to better understand and respond to students’ needs;
- Enrich students’ campus life and physical wellbeing, foster integration between local and non-local students, provide quality student support services such as counselling, Government’s student finance and scholarships, SEN support, and career development;
- Act as a liaison between the Institute and student clubs/societies/alumni associations, maintain effective communication and build positive relationships with students;
- Establish and maintain productive linkages with educational institutions, and foster community engagement in collaboration with social services organisations and related bodies;
- Lead, organise and support various student-related and Institute-level events and activities;
- Promote internationalisation, and coordinate student exchange programmes and relevant activities; and
- Enhance the recognition of THEi students both locally and internationally.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have:
(a) A recognised degree in Education, Public Administration, Social Work, Cultural Studies or relevant disciplines, preferably with a postgraduate degree and/or relevant professional qualification(s) are desirable;
(b) Proven leadership, with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience at a senior level, in successfully managing student services, career development services, organisation of co-curricular and inbound/outbound student activities, and career and psychological counselling;
(c) Sound knowledge of the role of student affairs work in higher educational institutions, preferably in those offering degree programmes;
(d) Strong organisational management, administrative, problem-solving and leadership skills;
(e) Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, teamwork and multi-tasking skills; and
(f) Good presentation skills and a high level of proficiency in both English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
Notes:
(1) The post is at the rank of “Senior Manager”.
(2) Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend and pass a written test in Chinese and English.
(3) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts, and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(5) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan and Tsing Yi Campuses.
