Salary: $38,715 per month

Entry Requirements:

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree, or equivalent, preferably majoring in Translation, English Language and/or English Literature;
(b) Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note];
(c) Good Chinese and English writing skills, fluent in spoken English and Cantonese;
(d) At least 3 years post-degree working experience related to translation, preferably in translating documents or academic works in government, non-government organisations or university settings;
(e) Good communication and interpersonal skills;
(f) Good knowledge of computer applications such as word-processing (English and Chinese), presentation and spreadsheet software; and
(g) Applicants may be required to sit for a written test prior to or on the day of interview.

Note:

For appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.

Duties:

(a) To translate Chinese Quality Review reports into English, and vice versa;
(b) To provide language-related support services such as drafting and vetting documents in Chinese and English; and
(c) To undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Terms of Appointment:Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract period for 2 years.

Fringe Benefits

(a) 14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity / paternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
(b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
