Hong Kong Microelectronics Research and Development Institute (MRDI) is established to seize the huge potential market for third-generation semiconductors and align with the national strategy for technological development.

The vision is for the MRDI to play a leading role in strengthening collaboration with the industry, academia, and research sectors, expediting the "1 to N" transformation of scientific research outcomes, promoting technological innovation, and assisting the industry in enhancing efficiency as well as achieving upgrading and transformation.

The MRDI is looking for a dynamic and high-calibre professional to fill the position of Director, Special Projects. This position will serve as a strategic partner to the senior management in driving high-impact initiatives across the institute’s R&D, cross-sector collaboration, and internal stakeholder engagement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and manage strategic projects that span R&D, talent development, global partnerships, and technology commercialisation.
Act as a trusted advisor to the senior management, offering insights, analysis, and hands-on support for emerging opportunities and challenges.
Coordinate cross-functional collaboration to ensure effective communication and teamwork across various departments to achieve project objectives and goals.
Oversee procurement activities, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
Identify and champion opportunities for innovation and operational improvements.
Prepare executive-level reports and presentations.
Support the senior management in strategic planning and institutional reviews.
Perform ad hoc assignments as directed by the senior management.

REQUIREMNETS

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
Min 8 years of experience in project management, particularly within the technology or microelectronics sector.
Proven track record of leading cross-sector projects involving government, academia, and industry.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Demonstrated leadership capability in driving various initiatives with measurable success.
Expertise in cross-border and international procurement negotiation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Adaptability to fast-paced environments and shifting priorities, with a high level of integrity and ethical standards.

Note: The level of responsibility and complexity of tasks will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. A candidate with less experience will be considered for a junior position.

The initial employment contract spans 12 months. The incumbent will normally work five days a week. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A gratuity of 15% of the salary will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the contract.
