Salary: HK$158 per hour
Entry Requirements:Candidates should –
(a) (I) (i) have completed Form 3 or equivalent; and
(ii) have completed apprenticeship training/ approved course of training of one of the following trades :
1. painting;
2. woodwork;
3. mural painting;
4. mosaic making;
5. bricklaying, plastering and tiling;
6. gardening; or
(II) have completed Form 5 or equivalent;
(b) have at least two years experience in the trades mentioned in (a)(I)(ii), and have competence in estimating usage of materials and making costs assessment;
(c) have coached or supervised the work of others or group activities; and
(d) be able to write Chinese or English, speak fluent Cantonese and simple English.
Note: Priority will be given to applicants who possess more than one of the trade skills or experience mentioned in (a)(I)(ii); or have experience in supervising the work of offenders; or have registered as Safety Officer under Chapter 59Z.
Duties: Mainly deployed on the following areas:
(a) to coach and supervise groups of community service workers [i.e. offenders put under the Community Service Orders Ordinance (Cap 378)] to perform one or more of the following types of work:
1. painting;
2. woodwork;
3. mural painting;
4. mosaic making;
5. bricklaying, plastering and tiling;
6. gardening;
(b) to complete the attendance records of community service workers and relevant reports, and to give evidence in court when necessary; and
(c) to assist the Co-ordinating Office of Community Service Orders in liaising with relevant organisations.
Terms of Appointment:Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for three years. The offer of further appointment beyond the existing contract is subject to the service need and the satisfactory performance and conduct of the appointee. Assignments will be made having regard to the service needs of the Department, the skills and experience of the appointee. Work may not be assigned to the appointee on a regular basis. Appointee will normally be required to work not more than 18 hours per week and may be required to work irregular hours, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Outdoor work may also be required.
