Role Description

This is a contract basis on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer at Zefinity located in Hong Kong or the China Greater Bay Area. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing hardware projects, managing suppliers, and coordinating manufacturing NPI activities.

Qualifications

8+ years in mechanical or product design engineering, focused on consumer electronics
Strong experience in injection molding, plastic part design, and tooling
Experience with Hardware NPI including EVT/DVT/PVT builds and supplier collaboration
Hands-on knowledge of root cause analysis and manufacturing process troubleshooting
Familiarity with secondary operations (e.g., ultrasonic welding, painting, laser marking)
Located in Hong Kong, Shenzhen or China Greater Bay Area
Available to work on a part-time or freelance contract basis
Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese required
Creo and Windchill experience preferred

Job Description:

We are looking for strategic support to drive manufacturing success in China. We are looking for a candidate to s erve as a local Mechanical Engineering Lead in China, representing Zefinity during all product development phases from DFM to NPI including EVT, DVT, and PVT.

This role will focus on aligning expectations with suppliers and ensuring all molded parts meet performance and quality standards. From tooling reviews to supplier trials and root cause investigations, you’ll be our eyes, ears, and hands on the ground—supporting everything from design for manufacturing, part validation to process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate part quality through functional testing, visual inspections, and measurements
Attend supplier mold trials and provide real-time feedback
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support corrective actions based on data-driven analysis
Review DFM reports, influence tool design, and validate manufacturing readiness
Communicate findings clearly with Zefinity team via reports, photos, and recommendations
