Quarry Bay School is seeking to appoint a full-time Teacher of Chinese from October 2025 to June 2026. The position will be a temporary contract only.
At Quarry Bay School it is expected that a Teacher of Chinese demonstrates the attributes of a general classroom teacher. These attributes include the capacity to maximise student learning and development through the planning, preparation, teaching and assessment of programmes which meet students’ individual learning needs and achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers teach a range of student abilities and classes and are accountable for the effective delivery of their programmes. The teacher engages in critical reflection in order to improve their knowledge and skills to better engage students and improve their learning.
Teachers of Chinese assume roles beyond the classroom in endeavouring to maximise students’ learning. These roles include working collaboratively with colleagues and other members of the school community and communicating with parents.
Teachers of Chinese's contribution to the school goes beyond the classroom. They participate in the development of the school policies and programmes and assist in the implementation of school priorities. All teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their teaching duties.
Requirements:
The successful candidate for this post must have:
Bachelor's Degree in Education, or
Bachelor's Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent
Teaching qualification
Relevant teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation
The candidate for the post must be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria. He/she must be:
Experienced with the PYP curriculum framework or similar.
Committed to effective teamwork.
An excellent communicator with students, staff and parents.
Committed to continuous professional development (including commitment to self-evaluation and self- improvement.
Capable of using ICT in teaching.
Concerned about the development of the whole person and care about children.
Experienced in working with students with special educational needs.
Highly organised in their administrative and time management skills.
Able to communicate fluently in English.
Committed to international education.
Mainscale teachers with primary classroom teaching experience and the capacity to speak Mandarin are strongly encouraged to apply
