The Biosciences Central Research Facility (BioCRF, CWB) at HKUST is a premier core facility dedicated to advancing biological research through cutting-edge technologies. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Technical Officer with experience in biological mass spectrometry (MS) or a related discipline to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will oversee and maintain our advanced MS platforms, ensuring optimal performance and supporting groundbreaking research in omics and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain high-end mass spectrometers and related liquid handling systems.
- Provide omics research support (proteomics, lipidomics, metabolomics, TMT, single-cell proteomics), including sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis.
- Perform instrument calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to ensure peak performance.
- Research and implement advanced MS analytical techniques and liquid handling systems to enhance facility capabilities.
- Develop SOPs and conduct training sessions for facility users.
- Collaborate with researchers to optimize experimental workflows and meet project deadlines.
- Assist in managing other core facility instruments (e.g., flow cytometry, microscopy, tissue culture, histology) as needed.
Requirements:
Applications should possess a master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline We require hands-on experience operating various mass spectrometry platforms and proficiency in MS data analysis. Candidates must demonstrate technical expertise in LC-MS systems, particularly in troubleshooting UPLC and nanoLC setups. The position demands strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work autonomously to meet challenging deadlines. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effectively supporting facility users and collaborating with researchers. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)
