Entry Requirements:
Candidates should have –
(a)(i) obtained a Certificate in a Building Studies subject from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) or a technical institute / technical college, or equivalent; or (ii) completed a recognised Technician Apprenticeship in building works; or (iii) at least five years’ relevant experience in building works;
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of – (i) Level 2 or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and (ii) Secondary 3 standard or above in Chinese Language, or equivalent [See Notes (A) and (B)]; and
(c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [See Note (C)].
Note:
(A) 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 2' in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(B) Candidates should obtain the above-mentioned entry requirements (a) and (b) on or before the closing date for application.
(C) All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the Basic Law and National Security Law Test will be considered for appointment. For candidates who have not taken the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test or have not attained a pass result in the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test during the recruitment process.
(D) Successful candidates may be required to: (i) work in remote areas; (ii) work outside normal working hours, in irregular hours and/or shifts; (iii) undertake on-call, standby and emergency duties; and (iv) be posted to Government Bureaux and other Departments.
Duties:
A Works Supervisor II (Building) is mainly deployed on –
(a) assisting in supervision of contract works in construction sites and facility upkeep works in government buildings, land, properties and slopes;
(b) assisting in examination of works requests for facility upkeep, preparation of cost estimates and working sketches as well as preparation of stock requests;
(c) assisting in monitoring site progress, exercising project quality control and maintaining site records;
(d) assisting in checking compliance of contract requirements, in particular safety, environmental protection and other relevant requirements;
(e) assisting in checking and verifying reports and claims submitted by contractors; and
(f) issuing Minor Works Orders. [See Note (D)]

Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he / she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
