Role Summary

This role within Pacific Basin’s Digitalisation team is responsible for designing and delivering advanced data solutions, including ML and AI, to support operational performance and business decision-making across the organisation.

It covers a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including ML model development, AI-driven solution engineering, and data system integration, with an increasing focus on production-ready AI/ML capabilities, intelligent automation, and scalable data solutions.

You will work across multiple initiatives, contributing to both analytical models and AI/ML-powered systems, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and effectively embedded into business workflows.

The scope of work will evolve based on business priorities and may include both AI/ML-led initiatives and broader data and system development.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities below will vary depending on project priorities and may cover both AI/ML initiatives and broader data solution delivery.

Proactively identify opportunities to apply data, ML, and AI to drive business value
Translate business requirements into practical and scalable AI solutions
Design, develop, and deploy ML models for predictive analytics, optimisation, and anomaly detection
Design and develop AI-powered applications and systems (e.g. AI copilots, RAG-based solutions, intelligent automation tools)
Build and maintain end-to-end ML pipelines (data preparation, feature engineering, training, validation, deployment, monitoring)
Integrate AI models into production systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability
Ensure AI solutions are production-ready, including monitoring, logging, and lifecycle management
Work with data engineers to ensure high-quality, production-ready data pipelines
Leverage and develop enterprise platforms (e.g. Microsoft Fabric, Dataverse, Azure services) for model development and deployment
Ensure solutions are aligned with enterprise platform standards and architecture
Apply best practices in model governance, including versioning, validation, and traceability
Contribute to the evolution of enterprise standards in data and AI
Support broader data initiatives including analytics, reporting, data modelling, and enterprise data development as required
Present findings and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Provide actionable insights to support business decision-making

Skills Capabilities & Qualifications:

Must-Have Requirements

Degree or above in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
Hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning models
Experience working with production environments (not just proof-of-concepts)
Experience with ML frameworks such as Scikit-learn, PyTorch, or equivalent
Experience with Generative AI (e.g. RAG, AI copilots, LLM-based solutions)
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Solid foundation in statistics and analytical thinking
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex business challenges

Nice-to-Have Requirements

Experience with Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric
Experience working with large datasets and distributed data environments
Experience in shipping, logistics, or a related industry
