Croucher Science Week is Hong Kong's bilingual youth science festival. Every year we bring science communicators from around the world to deliver engaging science shows and hands-on workshops for over 10,000 students and families, free of charge. The 2027 festival runs at the Hong Kong Science Museum from late March to early April.

We're hiring two enthusiastic students to join our small team for the eight months around the festival and support other projects alongside it.

Location: Central

Duration: October 2026 to May 2027

Work mode: part-time, two to three days a week (roughly 15 to 20 hours), arranged around your class timetable

Pay: HK$90 per hour

Vacancies: two

Apply by: 4 October 2026

What you’ll do

Autumn is for shaping the programme with our international science communicators and adapting their shows for Hong Kong audiences. From January, we move into production, promotion and script-checking, followed by the festival over Easter. April and May are for evaluation and wrap-up stories.

Festival support: help coordinate school registrations and international speaker logistics, keep spreadsheets and schedules up to date, prepare event materials, and support on-site set-up, rehearsals and workshops.
Year-round events and programmes: support marketing for our educational video library and school science livestreams, including resources for teachers, and help with our December symposium and award ceremony for young scientists.
If video is your strength: capture and edit video highlights of shows and workshops during the festival, plus rehearsals and behind-the-scenes for social media
If writing is your strength: write about Science Week in English and Traditional Chinese, and draft bios and promotional copy for science programmes, check translated scripts for scientific accuracy and fit with the school curriculum

What's in it for you

Do work that matters. The Croucher Foundation has backed science in Hong Kong for over four decades, and since 2018 our free Science Week events have reached more than 344,000 students, parents and teachers, including schools with few opportunities for hands-on science. We organise the festival with the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong Science Museum, so you'll see how a major public science event comes together across partners.
Meet people who bring science to life. Work alongside international science communicators, meet Croucher scholars and young researchers, and go behind the scenes of shows and workshops at the Hong Kong Science Museum and in schools across the city.
Learn by doing, with support. Build your portfolio through programme management, practical writing, editing or multimedia assignments, with regular feedback, and see how a science festival comes together from planning to stage.
Collaborative and inclusive environment. Work in a supportive team setting, in a newly renovated, spacious office, with a friendly atmosphere and networking opportunities.

I felt like a kid again, mesmerised by the engaging science demonstrations, shows and workshops. To say I fell in love with science again would be an understatement.
